Phillip regularly appears in the Supreme Court of NSW and the Federal Court of Australia.
Phillip specialises in commercial litigation, and financial markets related litigation. Phillip was formerly Head of Trading in Asia for Deutsche Bank and before that Head of Equity Derivatives in Europe – giving him a unique perspective when it comes to litigation in the commercial and financial markets space.
Phillip has been briefed in some of the States high profile case, such as the case brought against Deutsche Bank, Citibank and their senior executives by the ACCC and CDPP for cartel conduct in relation to the large secondary offering in ANZ shares (which was later abandoned). He has represented mining companies and been involved in numerous property development cases – many of which settle prior to hearing.
Mr Lonergan was awarded the degree Juris Doctor at the University of New South Wales- where he graduated with distinction. He then went on to read for his Masters of Law (LLM) at the University of Sydney. Mr Lonergan was merit scholar in economics, majoring in econometrics and statistics and later undertook a masters degree in Quantitative Finance at the University of Technology Sydney.
Before joining the Bar, Mr Lonergan worked in New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo in the financial markets for 2 of the world’s largest banks.
